I have been such a slacker at blogging but Ciara has been doing such a lovely job keeping it up for me.  

Lexi is doing the funniest things lately she really loves biting and chewing on things and is trying to figure out how to get them into her mouth. We got some video tonight that was just so hilarious I had to share.  I'm not sure what she reminds me of...some kind of very hungry little animal. Here is a sample of what I mean:)

Its taking forever to upload so I'll just think of some other things to share.  She has become a complete night owl and loves to stay up late with me.  We keep saying that we are going to try to get her on a schedule but have not actually started trying to work on it.  I just have so much to do during the day it doesn't make any sense to wake her up and get nothing done.  I guess we will see how it goes.

Lexi's New Thing!

Ok so Lexi's new thing is to grab clothes or anything related to cotton then put it in her mouth. She also likes to kick her little leg at you to grab your attention as well. I wish I had a few good shots of her putting the clothes in her mouth but I have a few pretty cute shots of her trying check it out:

What a DAY!

So today took little Lexi out to get her two month shots. We have switched doctors and the new doctor seemed very nice. We are always a little uncomfortable talking about our relationship to new straight people. They tend to look at us like WOW thats different! Then again its a little funny when they ask us which one of us is the mom and we both answer at the same time. We are working these little things out slowly but surely. 

Anyway, Lexi is doing great she got high numbers on all her measurements. She is 11 pounds and 2 ounces which is 70th percentile for weight and 95th percentile in height (can't remember her actual height right now). She got her shots and she was so mad! It almost made me cry! She cried so hard I felt like I needed to as well. They gave her some oral solution that made her sleep for hours after the shots but when she woke up I was there. She opened her eyes and cried again. I think now she may think I am the shot lady. Which could very well be true since I do give myself shots everyday.  So here is a photo of Lexi after shots poor Baby!

      

Random Tuesday

So Auntie Maggie and Anna K. came over for dinner.  We made "beer butt chicken" last night and then Ciara made soup over the left over Chicken bones and stuff - yum.  Actually the soup is delicious and its one of the few very Spanish things Ciara cooks - unfortunately for me I can cook more Spanishy food then she can:(   I digress though....we had guests over to help us eat all the soup and Maggie thought it would be fun to style Lexi's hair.

Their internet hasn't come in yet after SIX visits from the people who are supposed to have installed it at their new place.  However this does mean they get a free wireless router and five free months of service.  Not bad but I know how annoying it is to have to wait for stuff as critical as the internet!!!!   Here's Anna getting her internet fix and enjoying a massage from my lovely chair.

BUMBO TIME!

Ok so today we decided to buy a Bumbo. Yet Alexis really doesn't like it at all! I think it takes getting used to. Let me show you:

I got it!!!

First of all her sleeping through the night was definitely a fluke and not a new trend.  So sad but I knew we couldn't be that lucky:)

Her smiles are getting much more purposeful.  So I finally was able to get her to smile and then get a picture of it.  She LOVES the ceiling fan in our room so all i had to do was turn it on and then talk to her.  I don't know how they get us to spend all this money on baby toys when all they really need is to be able to lay around and watch a ceiling fan.

SHE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!

YAY!!!!  Some of her milestones I'm recording the week that it started because its hard to say for sure what day counts as her first smile, or the first time she held her head up...but this milestone I know for sure!!!!!  I had to wake up at 5 to pump because I was so engorged it was painful when I moved.  I think it was probably a fluke but I truly enjoyed it!!!!

I think maybe why she was able to sleep through is because she had such a busy day.  We went to my fairy god sister's wedding yesterday which was PERFECT!!!!  She was awake and surprisingly not fussy most of the time (we were there from about 4 until 10).

Oh and another milestone is that this week she has found her hand.  She loves when she gets it in to her mouth and can suck on it but gets very frustrated when she can't get it in there:)

We got some new outfits today and I couldn't help trying them on her:):)  Oh the fun of having a little girl!!!!

Alexis Renee

The other day I was talking to someone about Lexi's name.  I said most of the time we called her Lexi unless she was doing something that required us to call her Alexis.  When they asked what a seven week old could do that require me using her real name I couldn't think of anything off the top of my head...HOWEVER I have compiled my top three list of the things I have had to use her real name for since that conversation.

#3) When she is nursing and playing around and lets go which allows what seems like hundreds of tiny streams of milk to go spraying everywhere - MOST inconvenient if I am trying to be discrete in public!!!!

#2) Once again when she is nursing and has discovered another new trick that feels like she is BITING me - what's up with that by the way???  She has no teeth, what in the world makes that hurt so much?

and the #1 reason) When we were taking a bath together and tiny little bottom exploded with one of the largest bursts of poo I have seen to this day.  This particular incident required the use of both her names.  I felt so justified using her first and middle name I didn't even regret that giving her a middle name gave her FOUR names:)

Lexi is Learning to Coo

I think Lexi is beginning to learn how to coo.  She has quite a bit to learn but as a mom I think she is making the CUTEST noises ever and I spend quite a bit of time taping her.  Mostly she reminds me of a little panting puppy:)

Apple Picking

Today we went apple picking.  It was super hot and buggy and probably a little much for the baby but Tyler and his friend seemed to have fun.  One of these days we are going to figure out how to balance family outings that are good for both Tyler and Alexis.

They had these huge poles with basket things to get the apples that were high in the tree.   The boys got the hang of it pretty quickly.

Alexis was a great sport and even helped her Mama get some apples.

A little early for her to try them but I'm sure soon she will love them all mushed up - yum!!

Lexi is getting great at her tummy time.  She can hold her head up pretty well and seems to tolerate it pretty well for longer periods of time.
